Today is supposedly the last day of registering the sim cards you own here in the Philippines, but the deadline was moved. We were given another 90 days to register our sim cards because there's still a lot of people who did not registered yet.

Many people are stressing their concern over their information being leaked or being used in other illegal and other activities without their knowledge because let's face it; Cybersecurity here in the Philippines is not that reliable, especially that they kinda rushed this one. And other people are arguing that we are just used to complaining, and to just do whatever the government say.

It's like, being concerned over your personal data being leaked or used in illegal and unconsentual activities is not something we should be worried about and just do whatever the government want us to do. Ever since the pandemic, we've been signing up hundred of forms whenever we go inside premises such as malls and after a while, we've been receiving SPAM messages. We all know that our numbers have been sold or have been given to these people, whoever they are.

Not everyone knows that there is a market of selling information and while being ignorant about that information can be an excuse, you cannot simply dismiss the people's concern because gathering our information means that one wrong move and that vault of information can be handed to entities with bad intentions and we cannot do anything about it.

Telling people to just register and stop complaining is like telling them to just accept that we're doomed.

The government isn't even tgiving us the assurance that our information will be safe, or how safe our information will be.

I had to force myself to register yesterday because one of my sim card's number is registered/connected to one of the online app where I receive my salaries from my clients.

I know that the goal of this is to be able to stop other scammers or spammers in using unregistered sim cards but like I said, the cyversecurity here in the Philippines is not that reliable at all but I am still hoping that NO DATA LEAKAGE will happen again although I know it is very likely to happen.
